Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's Division I hockey team came into the weekend series with Lindenwood ranked ninth and wanted to make a statement against the second-ranked Lions. The Panthers battled throughout but saw the Lions score with 24 seconds left for a 4-3 road win.
Both teams had chances early in the first period but goaltenders
Clayton Brown and Michael Hails kept the game scoreless after 20 minutes. The Panthers struck first in the first minute of the second period as
Travis White scored his sixth goal of the season with a snipper to the top left corner with an assist from
Alyx Fonseca on the power play. Lindenwood tied it up at 3:13 of the second as Riley Spraggs scored on the power play unassisted. Tommy Heinzman gave LU a 2-1 lead at the 3:45 mark and kept that lead for four minutes until White scored again from
Winston Hofer on a tip-in in front of the net.
Spraggs gave Lindenwood a 3-2 lead after two periods but
Matt Ogden scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season at 2:18 of the third to deadlock things at 3-3. Stephen Bopp scored the game-winner for the Lions handing the Panthers just their second regulation loss of the season. The two teams will play again on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
