GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Panthers saw action in the DU Holiday Classic Wednesday evening in a matchup with Roosevelt University. DU came into the game looking to rebound from just their third loss of 2015-16 while the Lakers won their most recent game against Cornerstone University. The Panthers held strong against Roosevelt as they would prove their depth to be too much on their way to an 84-53 victory and advanced their 2015-16 record to 11-3.
The Panthers would take a 9-0 run in the first quarter that stretched a 9-5 lead to an 18-5 advantage. DU would take this momentum to a 35-17 lead at the break as their stifling defense held the Lakers to shooting just 26.9% from the field in the first half.
DU then came alive offensively as they tallied 30 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Alex Law led the charge as she scored 11 of her 18 points in the second half while going 3-for-6 from three-point range.
Molly Babbs added consistent play on both ends of the court as she totaled a double-double for the game on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Panthers extended their lead as they heated up from behind arc with an 8-for-13 performance in the second half. Six Panthers hit a three-pointer in the game, led by Law who went 4-for-9. DU would prove their depth to be too much for the Lakers as the Panthers would go on to outscore Roosevelt 41-16 in points off of the bench, led by
Mallory Sewell who totaled eight points.
