Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Division I men's hockey team put the foot on the accelerator in the final 8:19 of the third period on Friday to pull away for a 6-2 win over Indiana Tech on Friday night. The Warriors hung tough with the Panthers for the first 51:41 and trailed 3-2 at the 5:04 mark of the third period. Davenport then scored three times in a span of 6:15 to take a four-goal cushion.
Luke McCarthy scored first for DU at 2:53 of the first period from
Cody Walsh. Indiana Tech tied the game heading into the first intermission with a goal by Jarrett Pfeiffer on the power play at 10:12.
Davenport got the first two goals of the second period.
Louie Abounader from McCarthy and Walsh made it 2-1 at 2:25.
Cameron Dimmitt gave DU a 3-1 lead at 5:10 from
Alex Hulford and
Stephen Flood. Dylan Grant got the Warriors within 3-2 at 5:04 of the third from Jace Childs.
Hulford scored at 11:41 of the third from Dimmitt for a 4-2 lead.
Chris Eckler scored at 16:59 from
Matt Ogden and goaltender
Clayton Brown. Flood scored the final goal at 18:26 from Walsh and Hulford. Brown finished with 17 saves going all 60 minutes in net. Walsh had a big night with three assists. Zach Larson made 18 saves for the Warriors in net. DU went 0-for-1 on the power play while Indiana Tech was 1-for-4. The two teams will play again tomorrow night at Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids.
