LAKE WALES, Fla. –
Matt Priebe went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI,
Connor Seymour delivered a two-run shot to put his team back up from and
Zack Sardellitti delivered a two-run single in the mid-innings as the trio helped Davenport's 19
th-ranked baseball team compile 14 hits to produce an 11-6 win over Warner Monday afternoon.
Alex Schuiling (2-0) was very productive in relief after starter
Corey Sessions only went 3.1 innings. The left-hander threw two innings and held the Royals (4-9) hitless against the first five batters before allowing two runs on three hits in the sixth.
Jonathan Cheshire went the rest of the way surrendering a run in the ninth for his third save of the season.
Trailing 3-2 after three innings, Davenport (5-0) got back up front in the fourth when Seymour hit a two-run shot to left field. The Royals threatened to retake the lead in their half of the inning with the bases loaded and one out. Schuiling came in and on one pitch he escaped the threat with a double play.
The Panthers added on to the lead in the fifth inning by scoring three runs, highlighted by Sardellitti's pinch-hit two-run single to right center.
Davenport will now venture over to Lakeland to face Southeastern No. 13 for the only true doubleheader of the week. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
