Box Score YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Davenport D1 hockey team was able to complete the sweep of Eastern Michigan on Saturday night as they beat the Eagles 7-1.
Jordan Simmonds led the Panthers with a hat trick, while
Andrew Frank chipped in with two goals of his own as the Panthers picked up their 20th win of the season. Davenport will conclude their regular season schedule next weekend with a pair of home games on against Kent State.

Jordan Simmonds got the scoring started for the Panthers just 7:28 into the game as
Kody Polin and
Chris Eckler picked up the assists on the goal. Eastern Michigan was able to even the game late in the first period, but
Andrew Frank was able to score a power play goal with 1:25 left in the first period to give Davenport a 2-1 lead after the first period.

The Panthers started to take control of the game as Simmonds scored two more goals to start the second period and cap off his second hat trick of the season as DU took a 4-1 lead. Frank tallied his second of the game for the Panthers third power play goal of the game and took a 5-1 lead into the third period.

Travis White scored just 57 seconds into the third period to give Davenport a 6-1 lead, and
Stephen Flood closed out the scoring with his only goal of the game as the Panthers went on to win the game 7-1.
Clayton Brown grabbed his 11th win in net this season making 23 saves.

After the game
Phil Sweeney talked about his team's weekend against Eastern Michigan, "We had a great weekend at the right time. To beat a team 14-2 over a weekend when your back is against the wall shows how driven this is to get to nationals."

Davenport will conclude their regular season next weekend as they host Kent State next weekend on Friday at Saturday.
