BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. – After starting their WHAC schedule last weekend with a 17-5 win over Lourdes, the Davenport women's lacrosse team was back in action on Saturday night as they took on Indiana Tech. The battle between two top five teams in the NWLL saw the Panthers beat the Warriors, 14-7, as
Jessica Lemcke led DU with four goals. Davenport will have their home opener this week as they host Lourdes on the DU Turf Field, Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
Lemcke led the Davenport offensive attack as she scored four goals in the game to lead the Panthers, while
Paige VanWieren,
Kaitlyn Lowden and
Brooke Knoll tallied two goals apiece to round the Panthers with multi goal games.
Taylor Balch recorded the most points in the in game for Davenport as she scored one goal, while dishing out four assists.
Davenport started the game scoring just 2:09 into the game, as Lemcke tallied her first goal of the night off of a feed from VanWieren. The Lady Panthers continued to roll in the first half as they scored the next six goals to take a 7-0 lead with 16:02 left in the first half. Both teams alternated goals in the final nine minutes of the first half as Davenport took a 9-2 lead into the half.
The Warriors started to chip away at the Davenport lead as they scored four of the first five goals to start the half as, Davenport led 10-5 with 19:47 left to play. The Panthers started to stretch their lead once again as they scored the next four goals to take a 14-6 lead. Indiana Tech scored once more in the final two minutes of the game, but Davenport went on to win 14-7.
Samantha Powers picked up the win in net as she made 12 saves on 19 shots to move 3-0 on the season.
The Lady Panthers will be back in action on Wednesday night as they face Lourdes on the DU Turf Field for their home opener at 5 p.m.
