Blovsky Homers Twice in Softball’s Wins Over Judson, Hillsdale

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Ashleigh Blovsky goes yard twice and added four RBI in the two games Davenport's softball team's played as the Panthers shut out Judson for the second time in less than 24 hours and held on to defeat NCAA Division II Hillsdale 8-5 in the night cap to complete the four-game sweep of their Softball Classic Saturday.

Alyssa Eastman had a productive day at the plate to go along with her pitching duties in game two. In one day, the sophomore had one hit on the day but driven in four including three that was eventually the difference in game two against the Chargers.

Game 1 – Davenport 6, Judson 0
After keeping the Eagles scoreless in last night's 5-0 in the graveyard shift of the Classic, the Panthers (20-3) kept it the same way going into Saturday. Emily Maves (10-2) struck out five and allowed only six hits in as many innings before turning it over to Kyleigh Linebaugh who threw a shutout seventh inning to secure the win.

The Panthers' winning run came in the first inning without recording a hit. KC Dunne reached on a walk and scored all the way from first when a throwing error trying to put out Eastman sailed by the first baseman. They would then take a 2-0 lead on Blovsky's lead off shot to right.

Davenport would add a bit more breathing room in the fifth. Carli SanMillan drew a walk, advanced to second on Sarah Schneidenbach's sacrifice bunt and scored on Dunne's single to center field. Eastman added on to the lead when her base hit to the same direction as Dunne's drove in the shortstop.

Davenport put the game out of the Eagles reach one inning later. Blovsky led off with a walk and Casey Duddles hit a pinch-hit single to left to set up a two-run double by SanMillan.

Game 2 – Davenport 8, Hillsdale 5
Davenport quickly jumped on the board in the first inning. After the Panthers loaded the bases when SanMillan reached on a leadoff fielding error, Dunne was intentionally given first base and Karli Myers drew a walk, Blovsky forced in the first run on a four-pitch walk and Lindsay Tasma drove in two with a single to center.

After the Chargers their first run in in the fourth, the Panthers went back to work and did more damage. Schneidenbach and SanMillan reached on two straight hits and Koziol's fly ball moved them up a base. Hillsdale decided to intentionally walked Dunne again and load the bases but Eastman punished them for it by hitting a bases-clearing double to give Davenport a 6-1 lead.

Although Blovsky's second inning-opening blast in the fifth added on to the lead, Eastman though would have a bit of trouble in the sixth when four of the first five batters she faced reached on base hits followed by a two-run double cut Davenport's lead to 7-5. The sophomore escaped the threat by retiring the next three batters.

Eastman would go six innings allowing 10 hits and a walk while Maves allowed only one baserunner but earned her first save of the season.
