GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The second-ranked Davenport women's lacrosse team continued their home slate this weekend as they face third-ranked Lawrence Tech on Saturday. The Panthers beat the Blue Devils, 19-10 to move to 5-0 on the season, while
Kaitlyn Lowden led the way for Davenport with five goals and a pair of assists. Davenport will wrap up their home stand on Monday evening against Fort Lewis College at 4 p.m.
Lowden tallied her second five goal game of the season as she led the Panthers offensive attack with five goals and chipped in with a pair of assist.
Jessica Lemcke recorded four goals, while
Sara Kuzava and
Taylor Balch each recorded hat tricks.
Brooke Knoll recorded her 100th career point in the game as she tallied one goal and led the team with five assists.
Lawrence Tech got off to a fast start scoring the first goal of the game just 41 seconds into the game, but Davenport was able score two quick goals to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Blue Devils tied the game with 24:20 left in the first half, but Davenport was able to pull away as they went on a 6-1 run, to take an 8-3 lead with 15:30 left in the half. The Panthers were able to take a 13-6 lead into the half, after Lemcke tallied a goal with 11 seconds left in the half.
In the second half, Davenport continued to pull away from Lawrence Tech to start the second half as they went on a 4-0 run to open the half, with each goal recorded by four different players, as DU led 17-6 with 21:47 left in regulation. The Panthers and Blue Devils alternated goals, before the Blue Devils scored two goals in final 30 seconds of the game, but Davenport was able to hang on to a 19-10 victory.
The Panthers will conclude their three game home stand on Monday evening when they face Fort Lewis College on the DU Turf Field at 4 p.m.
