MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Davenport softball team took on Auburn Montgomery on the final day of NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The Panthers needed to beat the Warhawks twice on Wednesday to keep their season alive. Auburn Montgomery was able to get on the board early to beat Davenport, 4-0, as AUM now advances to Sioux City, Iowa for the NAIA Softball World Series. Davenport concludes their 2015 campaign with a 42-10 record on the season.

Auburn Montgomery scored early in the first inning as Katie Spain hit a two-run homerun down the left field line to give the Warhawks an early 2-0 lead.
Emily Maves started to settle down in the circle, after she was able to leave runners stranded on first and second base in the second inning.

Maves then retired the next six batters as Auburn Montgomery still hung onto a 2-0 lead, until the Warhawks increased their lead in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two more runs to take a 4-0 lead.
Paige Sant'Angelo broke up the perfect game for Auburn Montgomery's, Cassie Jones, with a single to center field. However, the Panthers could not push any runs across in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Neither team could produce any more offense, as both pitchers held the opposing offenses at ease, while Auburn Montgomery was able to hang on to beat Davenport, 4-0.

Davenport concludes their 2015 season with a record of 42-10 and went 2-2 at the NAIA National Championship Opening Round in Montgomery, Ala.
