GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Connor Seymour's two-run double down in the second inning was the difference in the game as host and second-seed Davenport's (Mich.) pitching held on to edge No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan 3-1 in the fifth game of the NAIA National Opening Round in the Panthers' Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex Wednesday.

The win moves Davenport to one victory away from advancing to the program's first ever Avista-NAIA World Series appearance. The Panthers await to see who will face them at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Eagles, meanwhile, will have to take on the winner of the following contest between Peru State and Grand View Thursday at 1 p.m.

Seymour went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. He would double again in the seventh inning.
Matt Priebe also had a two-hit day with a double for the Panthers.

Brendan Bender surrendered the only run in the sixth inning before he ended his day scattering four hits and a walk.
