GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers matched up with Cornerstone University Wednesday night as both teams entered the match looking for the first win in conference play. The Golden Eagles controlled the play as they fired 12 shots on senior goal keeper
Tara Gessler while the Panthers recorded three. Gessler had a great performance as she kept DU alive with a 10-save performance.
The Panthers played Cornerstone evenly through the first 45 minutes as
Nea-Stina Liljedahl had the best scoring chance for the home team, but saw her opportunity turned away. Liljedahl continued to spark the Panther attack in the second half as she recorded four shots for the game and two shots on goal. Gessler totaled six saves in the second half, but Cornerstone found the back of the net twice as the Panthers fell to 3-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the WHAC.
