MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Panthers took on Bethel College Friday evening in a non-conference matchup with the Pilots. Davenport fended off the Pilots and overcame a 2-1 deficit in the second half to tie the game and force overtime. The teams played to a stalemate to bring the overall record for the Panthers to 0-2-1.
The Panthers took the 1-0 lead early as
Nea-Stina Liljedahl scored her second of the season in the eighth minute. The Pilots would respond quickly with two goals in the next 10 minutes of action to take the 2-1 lead.
Bethel would hold this lead until the 85
th minute when Liljedahl scored her second of the game unassisted to force overtime. Davenport stormed back in the second half to notch 10 shots as their pressure increased and resulted in the game-tying goal. Goal keeper
Tara Gessler kept the Panthers alive with an 11-save performance, including four saves in the first overtime period. Davenport was not able to capitalize on this momentum as they drew a tie with the Pilots.
