Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport Panthers continue to put the pressure on Oakland on the second day of the series. Davenport opened up the first period with a slap-shot by
Luke McCarthy assisted by
Cody Walsh and
Tyler Ploeg at 4:10. Davenport never let up scoring two more goals to wrap up the period.
Jordan Simmonds gave DU a 2-0 lead on an assist by
Everett Thompson at9:42 and
Michael Lozicki scored the third goal on assists by
Alyx Fonseca and John Mencer with 8:18 remaining in the period.
Davenport showed no signs of letting up on Oakland as
Everett Thompson scored the first goal of the second period at10:38.
Alex Hulford added to the Davenport lead scoring the fifth goal of the game assisted by
Chris Eckler and
Travis White at12:53.
Davenport continued its relentless attack as
Travis White skates towards the Oakland goalie flicking the puck right past him with the assist coming from
Jordan Simmonds and
Chris Eckler at8:25. Davenport continued to dominate as
Cody Walsh rips a slap shot from the blue line with an assist from
Alex Hulford and
Jordan Simmonds at13:04to make the score 7-0 in the third. Simmonds then put the score at 8-0 fromThompson and
Adam Goudelock on his second of the game with just 13 second remaining in the game.
The Panthers are now 22-2-0-1 on the season and 13-1 in the GLCHL following its 8-0 win and weekend sweep of Oakland. DU will continue down its final stretch of the season with a pair of conference games against Eastern Michigan University starting with a trip to Ypsilanti on January 22.
