GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The women's hockey team picked up their seventh win of the season on Friday night with a 6-3 win over Ohio State. The Buckeyes slipped to 1-10-1 overall while Davenport is now 7-11-1 on the year.
Ohio State took a 2-1 lead after the first period as Emilie Dunlap and Jessica McCoy scored unassisted goals at 14:34 and 18:41 respectively.
Megan Martin got Davenport on the board at 16:34 unassisted.
The Panthers then started to dominate as they scored five straight goals including two in the second period.
Laken Kunz and Martin gave DU a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.
Adrienne Porcalla assisted on Kunz's goal and
Patsy Howe assisted on Martin's second goal of the night.
Lexie Boydston scored at 2:20 of the third from Kunz and Martin making it 4-2.
Ashley Reese scored at 13:04 from Howe for a 5-2 lead. Martin completed the hat trick at 19:20 from Porcalla and Kunz.
The game featured just two penalties as both teams were 0-for-1 on the power play. Emily Ciborek made 48 saves for the Buckeyes.
Karley Ferguson stopped 17 shots in the win for the Panthers.
