GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers make history while honoring their seniors in their game against Aquinas College. The women's soccer team won their 14
th straight game tonight which sets the program record for the longest win streak of all time. Davenport is now 15-0-1 on the season and have two regular season games left against Siena Heights and Indiana Tech.
The night started off by acknowledging the three seniors
Shameeka Fishley,
Kilee Lovelace and
Nea-Stina Liljedahl. All three of these seniors have been key contributors to the program over the last four years.
The game was a back and forth battle as the Saints put up a fight tonight at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
Juli Knapp would get things started for the Panthers as she curved a corner kick into the net! Aquinas would respond with a goal of their own in the 36
th minute. The game would be tied 1-1 heading into the half, the Saints had six shots and the Panthers had seven shots.
The Panthers came out firing in the second half, as both
Alice Linsell and Fishley scored in the first 11 minutes of the half. Fishley's goal would be unassisted and proved to be the game winning goal. With the goal today Fishley has 30 goals in her career and takes sole possession of third place in the all time rankings for most career in an individual's career at Davenport.
Davenport has two regular season games remaining and they are both away. The Panthers will travel to Adrian, Michigan to take on Siena Heights next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
