GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's soccer team faced a second-half deficit against Marygrove on Wednesday night but buckled down with a goal to force overtime and then won it with 2:31 left in the extra session. Sophomore
Tyler Collishaw scored a pair of goals coming in the 25th minute and 78th minute. His fifth of the season made it 1-0 and came off a free kick from 20 yards. He then tied the game at 2-2 as he streaked into the play and drilled a shot from the middle of the field 18 yards out.
Yovany Duran started the scoring play by taking the ball away and was given an assist.
Gonzalo Caceres scored off a corner kick play in the 32nd minute from Mario Morana and then Mike Ayanwale gave Marygrove a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute off a turnover and fired low left from 25 yards. The Panthers picked up the pressure heading into overtime and got the winning goal with 2:31 left.
Craig McBride lifted a long ball into the 18-yard box and goalkeeper Austin Valentine got his hands on it but could not hang on. The ball got loose and
Stephen Carroll kicked into a wide open net for his first of the season.
Davenport recorded eight shots on goal compared to four for the Mustangs. Valentine finished with five saves while
Aaron Orban made two saves for the Panthers.
