ADRIAN, Mich. – Davenport took a step back last night as they lost their first game of the season with a 5-1 loss at Adrian College. This was a battle between two teams ranked in the top six nationally, Adrian is fourth and the Panthers are sixth. The teams are now 1-1 against each other this season as Davenport won the first match 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The Bulldogs came out aggressive early as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening period of play. Davenport tallied five penalties which totaled ten minutes spent in the penalty box by the players. Adrian fired 16 shots at the net while Davenport only was able to get ten shots on goal.
-Davenport found an offensive push as
Chris Eckler scored to open up the second period and brought the Panthers to within one goal. Adrian would combat that with two goals of their own to go up 4-1 after 40 minutes of play.
-The Panthers couldn't find the answer offensively in the third period as they got shut out. The Bulldogs added one more goal and won 5-1 giving the Panthers their first loss of the season.
-Eckler scored the only goal.

Jason Rhynold started in goal and had 25 saves in 59 minutes of competition.
