LIMA, Ohio - The men's soccer team was looking for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament title on Saturday at Northwestern Ohio but could not muster much offense in a 2-0 loss to the Racers. The top two seeds in the tournament brought a national ranking of fourth (DU) and fifth (UNOH) into the highly anticipated match. The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw during their regular season matchup on October 2 at Davenport. UNOH was the top seed winning the conference by two points over the Panthers and securing important home field in this final.
The Racers kept the Panthers out of sync during the match and shut them out for the second time this season. Davenport could only manage a total of six shots and one shot on goal in being blanked for just the third time this season. The loss also snapped a 10-match win streak for the Panthers after the tie in the regular season against Northwestern Ohio.
The Panthers will now await their first round opponent in the NAIA Tournament which gets underway next Saturday, November 19. The WHAC has a total of 12 teams which means they get two teams to qualify for nationals and the runner-up in the tournament means Davenport is once again in the field. The selection show will be available at the following link (
