Panthers Bounce Back With 4-2 Win Over Liberty

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport got back to their winning ways last night as they defeated Liberty 4-2 at the Patterson Ice Arena. The Panthers won their opening ten games of the year, lost at Adrian, tied against Florida Gulf Coast and then last night the team got back on track with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport struck first in the game with a goal from Chris Eckler in the ninth minute of play, he was assisted by Kody Polin and Jordan Simmonds. The Panthers let up a goal in the 19th minute and would be tied 1-1 at the end of the first period.
-The second period was very stagnant in the scoring category up until the 17th minute. Aaron Beally scored a goal to put the Panthers in the lead 2-1. Alex Hulford got in on the action as well, scoring with 59 seconds left in the period to help create a 3-1 lead going into the third period.
-Beally netted his second goal of the game in the ninth minute of the third period, assisted by both Ian Thompson and Everett Thompson. Liberty squeaked in a goal during the 18th minute of the period to bring the final score to 4-2 in Davenports favor. Davenport tallied 48 shots on goal compared to Liberty's 27.
-Beally's two goals led DU.
-Seven different Panthers assisted on a goal, Wade Weisgerber, Walker Aurand, Hulford, Simmonds, Polin and both Thompson's.
-Davenport spent four minutes in the penalty box throughout the game.
-Tanner Swift spent the night in the net and had 25 saves while only giving up two goals in 60 minutes.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers still have two more home games left for the weekend as they host Lindenwood on Saturday and Sunday. Both games will be played at the Patterson Ice Arena, Saturday's game will be played at 3:35 p.m. and Sunday's will be played at 1:35 p.m.
