GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's division one hockey team sweeps tenth ranked Lindenwood in a two game series at home over the weekend. The first game was a thrilling 3-2 overtime win and the second game was a 5-1 thrashing by the Panthers. Davenport improves to 13-1-1 on the year and are currently ranked seventh in the nation.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game on goals from
Kody Polin and
Jordan Simmonds in the first period. Ironically enough each player assisted on the others goal, Polin assisted Simmonds and Simmonds assisted Polin.
-Lindenwood fought their way back into the game during the second period. They scored in the 18
th minute to cut the lead down to one goal.
-The Lions made things interesting in the third period as they tied the game at 2-2 with just over eight minutes to play in the game. Neither team would score and overtime became necessary to determine a winner.
-Davenport found some magic from
Aaron Beally as he netted the game winning goal just 58 seconds into the overtime period.
-Beally, Polin and Simmonds all scored during the game.

Chris Eckler assisted on all three goals.
-
Jason Rhynold played the entire game in goal and tallied 37 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The Panthers unleashed the offense during the second match-up against the Lions as DU scored five goals and held Lindenwood to only one goal. Eckler got things going for Davenport when he scored in the fifth minute and
Joey Ogden would add another goal during the 16
th minute of the first period. Davenport went into the second period leading 2-0.

Michael Lozicki got in on the scoring action when he netted a goal in the 14
th minute of the second period increasing the Panthers lead to 3-0. The Lions responded just 24 seconds after with a goal of their own. Davenport led 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.
-The third period Davenport decided to send the Lions home with a bitter taste in their mouth. The Panthers poured in two more goals by
Alex Hulford and Simmonds to ultimately win 5-1 and hand two loses to Lindendwood over the weekend.
-Five different players scored for DU, Eckler, Ogden, Lozicki, Simmonds and Hulford.
-Beally assisted on three goals and
Wade Weisgerber assisted on two goals.
-Rhynold had himself a heck of a weekend. He played the entire game again in goal and stopped all but one shot sent his way.

UP NEXTThe Panthers will have a big time road game upcoming as they travel to Adrian College on Tuesday, November 22
nd. The Bulldogs are currently ranked third in the nation and the teams are 1-1 against each other so far this season. The game will be played in Adrian, Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
