Box Score MANITOWOC, Wis. – Davenport starts off the 2016-2017 season with a bang as they defeat Silver Lake College 83-50. The Panthers have won every season opening game underneath head coach
Burt Paddock since he started coaching at DU in 2008-2009. Twelve DU players got in the game tonight and ten different players scored a point for Davenport.
The Panthers started off the first half a little sluggish as the Lakers jumped out to an early 8-4 lead. Davenport would flip the script as they went on a couple runs to to jump out to a 17-10 lead in the first half. The Panthers wouldn't let up the rest of the half as they went into half time leading 37-25. At half DU was 5/6 from the free throw line and 14/40 from the field.
Davenport made a couple adjustments at half and blew this game wide open in the second half. DU would outscore the Lakers 44-25 in the second half to ultimately win 83-50. The shooting stats in the second half for the Panthers were solid as they shot 18/36 from the field and 7/18 from the three-point line.
The defense was solid during both halves of this game as the Lakers only scored 25 points in each half and shot 30.2% from the field for the game. Davenport really took advantage of the turnovers by the Lakers as DU scored 21 points off of turnovers. The scoring for DU was scattered across multiple players, but three Panthers would lead the scoring charge.
Kevin Rich notched 18 points for the game on 6/14 shooting from the field.
Javon Haines scored 19 points on a stellar 8/13 shooting from the field, all while snagging seven rebounds. Last but not least,
Robbie Bramhill poured in a game high 20 points on 6/13 from the field. He got into a groove in the second half as he nailed four bombs to help extend the Panthers lead.
Davenport has a quick turnaround as they travel to Indiana tomorrow to take on Governors State at the Purdue Northwest Classic tournament. Game is scheduled to start at 8 pm, there will be live video as well as a radio broadcast by
