Panthers Set Up Date with UNOH in WHAC Final

DU (17-1-2) beat sixth-seed Marygrove 4-0 on Wednesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The recent run by the fourth-ranked Davenport men's soccer has been impressive as they won 4-0 at home against Marygrove on Wednesday night in the WHAC Tournament Semifinal. The Panthers have allowed just one goal now in their last six games and have won 10 straight since a 0-0 tie against WHAC Tournament Final opponent Northwestern Ohio. The colossal matchup between the Panthers and fifth-ranked Racers will take place on Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m. in Lima, Ohio. With tonight's win, Davenport (17-1-2) has earned a berth into the NAIA National Tournament by virtue of finishing no worse than second in the tournament.

Tyler Collishaw got Davenport some early momentum at 3:51 with his team-leading 12th goal of the season from Cam Cavanagh. Collishaw took a pass into a small space and maneuvered into a shot from 20 yards that was low to the ground into the lower left. The Panthers added to their lead at 16:56 as Jordan Van Oostenbrugge scored his first goal of the season. Carson Brinks came up from his defensive post and carried the ball into the box from the right wing. His pass to Van Oostenbrugge was perfect and a strike from 18 yards into the lower right made it 2-0.

Davenport came out in the second half and played a very physical game with the Mustangs. The teams battled and DU eventually went up 3-0 at 58:40 as Jake Love scored his ninth of the season from Collishaw. A long pass to left wing was gathered by Love who dribbled a few steps and shot from 17 yards to the lower left. The Mustangs then went down a man at 66:30 as Khaled Moussa was given a red card. The Panthers played the ball around and Aaron Orban had to make a few nice saves to preserve the shutout. He finished with five saves including three in the second half. Yovany Duran scored his fourth of the season at 89:22 from Osvaldo Villagomez to end the scoring.

Davenport finished with 11 shots on goal (16 shots) while Marygrove ended with five shots on goal (nine total). They finish their season at 9-8-3 overall.
