SYLVANIA, Ohio – Davenport bounces back with an 18-point conference road win against Lourdes University. The Panthers won their sixth conference game of the year and remain tied for third place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. This is the fourth time that Davenport has held the opposing team to under 60 points this season.
Robbie Bramhill got things started for Davenport with a corner three ball, assisted by
Javon Haines, which jump started his impressive scoring night. Both
Kevin Rich and Bramhill connected on jumpers in the first couple minutes of the game and Davenport found themselves up 7-2 early. Lourdes had a steal and lay-up to tie the game 11-11 with 14:14 left in the half, which in turn sparked a 7-0 davenport run. This run included a three by Rich, and layups by
Dawid Czerniawski and
Andia Marsh. The Gray Wolves kept fighting back during the first half, but Davenport held them off late to take a 32-26 lead into half time.
The Panthers came out in the second half and went on a 6-0 run to increase the lead to 12 points. Davenport was able to keep the lead they created throughout the half with the lead fluctuating between 9 and 15 during the first ten minutes. Bramhill helped cap off some significant runs during the half. With just under 11 minutes to go he had an offensive tip-in and 40 seconds later hit a corner three to boost DU's lead to 15 points. During the last ten minutes of the half Davenport fended off a very competitive Lourdes team. Down the stretch Davenport shot 6/9 from the field and also went 2/2 from the free throw line to eliminate the chance of the Gray Wolves making a come back.
The guard combination of
Nick Gamble and
Javon Haines were un-able to get a scoring rhythm going, but made up for it in other ways. They collaborated and had seven assists and ten rebounds together. The trio of Bramhill, Rich and Dieng led the way for Davenport tonight. Dieng started as the center and had ten points, was 4/6 from the field and grabbed six rebounds. Rich continued his stellar senior season with 19 points, shot 6/10 from the field, and snatched a team high nine rebounds. Bramhill was DU's player of the game tonight with his game high 23-point performance. He went 7/14 from the field and added seven rebounds.
