Ploeg scores OT winner at Adrian, 4-3

#5 Panthers beat #6 Bulldogs for second time this season on the road

Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. - The regular season wrapped up on Thursday night for the men's Division I hockey team at Adrian College. Davenport and Adrian would do battle for the third time this season and in the end the road team won each time including DU's 4-3 overtime decision at Arrington Ice Arena. The Panthers picked up their 20th straight win with three of the last four wins coming in overtime and the last four wins coming by a single goal. Davenport (29-2-0-1) did not lose in regulation on the road in 2015-16 finishing 14-0-0-1.

The Panthers scored first as Cameron Dimmitt continued his fantastic play with his 16th goal of the season to tie for the team lead with Jordan Simmonds and Travis White. Dimmitt took a quick one-timer off a faceoff win by Alex Hulford in the offensive zone and rifled it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 18-minute mark. Adrian came back with a pair of Brad Kobryn goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Louie Abounader scored his ninth goal of the season just 19 seconds after Kobryn's second goal unassisted to tie the game.

Chris Eckler notched his 12th of the season on the power play as the teams went into the locker room for the second intermission. Kobryn got his hat trick with just 1:34 left in regulation forcing overtime. The only shot of overtime belonged to the Panthers and they buried it. Tyler Ploeg scored his first goal of the season on a 2-on-1 breakout as Hulford was the other option. Ploeg went to the right circle area and beat Austyn Roudebush on the low blocker side. Adrian led 37-26 in shots on goal as Davenport held the advantage in the second period, 11-10. Clayton Brown had a huge effort in net making 34 saves including 12 in the third period.
