It was a one-sided affair in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Saturday when the Davenport men's rugby team took on the #9-ranked DI Arkansas State Red Wolves. Arkansas State came out strong right off the bat, scoring almost immediately. Davenport did a good job of playing defense and consistently holding Arkansas State at the gain line, but simple mistakes such as knock-ons and penalties kept giving the ball back to their opponent. A-State capitalized off of every single Davenport mistake, and capitalized big, scoring 53 points in the match while shutting out Davenport.
Davenport looks ahead to Georgia, where they will take on a top-ranked Mid-South conference opponent, Life University. The #2-ranked Running Eagles just outmatched another Mid-South conference foe in Lindenwood and are ready to keep rolling. The Panthers are looking to go into Marietta, Georgia and learn from their errors at Arkansas State and come out of their road trip with a win.
