Brogan Shrimpton came through with his first goal of the season in the 104th minute of a 2-1 win versus No. 7 Columbia (Mo.) on Friday night at Olivet Nazarene University. The top 10 matchup lived up to its billing as both teams battled throughout regulation and into overtime.
Michael Mayberry gave Columbia a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute and then Davenport responded with the tying goal less than four minutes later as
Yovany Duran scored his first of the season from
Jake Love.
The shots through 90 minutes were 7-5 in favor of DU and Columbia had three shots on goal as
Aaron Orban made two saves in the second half. Shrimpton won it in extra time as he scored off his own rebound propelling the Panthers to 3-1 overall picking up their second win against a nationally-ranked NAIA team.
