DEARBORN, Mich. - The women's volleyball team got back into the winner's circle on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Michigan-Dearborn by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-10. The Panthers (4-8, 1-3 WHAC) had a great hitting day (.322) with 41 kills including 13 kills and a .667 percentage in the big third set.
The Panthers and Wolverines were tied at 10 in the first set before DU scored 12 of the next 15 points to take a 22-13 lead and force a timeout.
Izzy Huntington gave DU the 23rd point with a kill,
Krissy Dill had a kill for the 24th point and a ball-handling error by Daniella Barile ended the set at 25-16.
In the second set, both teams again were tied at 11 before DU scored four straight points to gain some cushion. UM-D rallied back to take a 17-16 lead on a service ace by Kristina Ivanovic. The Panthers then scored the final four points of the set to win 25-22. Dill had a block followed by a kill from Dill and
Ashley VanderHorst.
Davenport easily closed out the match leading 9-1 early in the third set. Dill served five straight points and the Panthers never got threatened from there. Dill led the team with 12 kills and hit .375. VanderHorst had 10 kills and hit .474.
Sami White led the team with 19 assists.
