GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers swept Oakland University over the weekend in the Good Luck Duck Series in exciting fashion. On the road during the first game DU defeated Oakland 6-5 in OT at Oakland. The next night Davenport took an early lead and won 6-3 at home. DU is 23-4-1 and have only five regular season games remaining.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The first period saw DU get a slow start to the game. Oakland scored in the 12
th minute and Davenport didn't get on the board until the 18
th minute. DU scored two goals in the last three minutes of the period to take a 2-1 lead. Luke Cowan and
Chris Eckler were responsible for the two goals.
-Eckler didn't wait long to score again in the second period, 47 seconds to be exact. Both teams scored two goals a-piece during the period to keep the lead at one for DU heading into the third period.
-The third period provided lots of excitement for both teams. In the second minute Eckler notched a hat trick (three goals) to bring DU's lead to two goals. Oakland responded with two late goals to push the game into OT.

Alex Hulford capped of the exciting game with a goal in the third minute of the OT period to give the Panthers the win,
Everett Thompson and
Aaron Beally assisted him.
-Eckler led the team with three goals.
-Beally had two assists to lead DU.

Tanner Swift was the man in net and had 43 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED-
During the first period the storyline was that DU felt comfortable on their home ice. The Panthers scored three goals during the period all while shutting out Oakland. Thompson, Eckler and Joey Ogden all scored one goal. Ogden's goal was unassisted.-The defense displayed in the second period was impressive as neither team was able to score.
-Both teams went off for three goals each during the third and final period. Oakland notched two quick goals in the opening five minutes to make it a one-goal game. Luke Cowan responded a few minutes later to bring the lead back up to two goals. Hulford and
Kody Polin both scored in the last two minutes of play to secure the DU win.
-Six different players scored during the game, Thompson, Eckler, Ogden, Cowan, Hulford and Polin.
-Beally assisted on two goals.

Jason Rhynold got the nod to play the game in net and had 33 saves on 36 shots by Oakland.
UP NEXTDavenport is on the road for the next four games and will play three of those this week. They play Wednesday in Pennsylvania and Friday/Saturday in Virginia.
