GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers scored seven goals for the second straight game en route to a shutout victory of the Knights of Calvin College. The defense was impeccable during the game for Davenport, only giving the Knights 15 shots on goal during the whole game. Davenport scored one short handed goal, five even strength goals and one power play goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport left no doubt on the ice that they are the better team than the Knights. The Panthers scored two goals in the opening period, both came from someone named Thompson. The first goal was scored by
Everett Thompson in the 16th minute of play on a short handed effort, he was assisted by
Ian Thompson and
Adam Goudelock. Shortly after I. Thompson scored a goal and was assisted by E. Thompson and
Wade Weisgerber to give DU a 2-0 lead.
-An offensive barrage occurred in the second period for Davenport. E. Thompson knocked a goal in, along with
Sherman Mowery,
Marc Anderson and
Sam Basich. Mowery scored the only power play goal of the game and was assisted by Luke Cowen and
Tyler Ploeg.
-In the final period
Chris Corgan got in on the scoring action to give Davenport a comfortable seven goal lead.
-E. Thompson led in goals with two.
-Ploeg assisted on two different goals.

Nate Ferris played all 60 minutes in net and tallied 15 saves for a shutout.
