Davenport drops decision at Grand Valley State 3-0

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Panthers took on a team that is ranked in the top five nationally and held their own against the Lakers. Davenport had to defend against an offense who averages four and a half goals per game. The game was physical throughout, with four yellow cards being handed out over 90 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Grand Valley got on the board early, scoring a goal in the tenth minute. Davenport responded with physical play to try and stop the Lakers from scoring again. The physical play led to a trio of yellow cards for the Panthers. Allison Luurtsema, Roheema Bennet and Sabrina Stone all were given yellow cards during the game. Following a fould by DU the Lakers earned a free kick and made it count by scoring off a header from the kick. Davenport went into halftime down two goals and needing some offense to get back into the game.

Davenport got two different scoring opportunities during the second half. Alex Prout got a shot on target in the 51st minute and Madeleine Zayan in the 71st minute, both were saved by the Grand Valley keeper. The Panthers were unable to score in the half and were shutout for only the fourth time this season.

The Panthers play their last GLIAC game of the regular season on Sunday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m. vs. Purdue University Northwest. The game will be played at home.
