MARQUETTE, Mich. – Davenport competed in their fifth straight match on the road and lost to the Wildcats of Northern Michigan. The Wildcats came into the match holding a 7-3 record in conference play while the Panthers held a 5-5 record in conference play. Northern Michigan successfully defended their home arena as they defeated Davenport in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 11-25, 14-25, 21-25
-The Wildcats opened the initial set by scoring eight out of the first nine points to take a 8-1 lead. Davenport made a four point run of their own that was capped off by an attack error by the Wildcats. Northern Michigan scored six unanswered points to take a 14-5 lead. After one point by the Panthers the Wildcats went on a eight point streak to take a 22-6 lead. The Panthers made another four point run late, but wasn't enough as the Wildcats took set one 25-11.
-The second set was a little different story. The Panthers and Wildcats battled it out for the opening 21 points of the set.
Charlie Smith cut the lead down to three points for the Wildcats after her kill. Northern Michigan scored three straight points and then Davenport took a timeout. The Panthers earned a point after a kill by
Jessica Marvin to make the game 12-17 in the Wildcats favor. A six point run by NMU gave them an 11-point lead late.
-Northern Michigan made another big run late in the third set to pull away from the Panthers. The Wildcats scored seven unanswered points to take a 20-11 lead. With their backs against the wall, down 15-24, Davenport rallied off six straight points before conceding the match winning point to the Wildcats.

Davenport has one more road match on the schedule before they come back to play at the DU Student Center. On Thursday, October 26
th the Panthers will play at Purdue University-Northwest.
