Mini series showdown with rival Adrian College results in two losses for Davenport

ADRIAN, Mich. – One of the biggest rivalries in all of ACHA hockey is between the Panthers and the Bulldogs of Adrian College. The two teams have consistently brought together impressive hockey teams and play at a very high level. The early season mini series went to the Bulldogs this time. Adrian College scored 13 goals over the two games and their defense held Davenport to one goal per game.
 
Game 1 (Thursday, October 19th)
Final Score: Davenport 1, Adrian College 5
Location: Adrian, Mich.
Records: Davenport 3-4, Adrian College 7-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport got on the board first in this game, scoring in minute number nine with a goal from Alex Hulford. Hulford was assisted by Wade Weisgerber on the play and the Panthers had struck first. The Bulldogs responded witht wo goals of their own in the period, including a goal with 45 seconds left on the clock.
-The Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals during the final two periods. Davenport was held scoreless for the final 51:25 of the game.
-Hulford scored one goal.
-Weisgerber had the only assist.
-Tanner Swift got the nod to start in net and had 28 saves over 60 minuts.

Game 2 (Friday, October 20th)
Final Score: Davenport 1, Adrian College 8
Location: Grand Rapids, Mich.
Records: Davenport 3-5, Adrian College 8-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Adrian College came out the gates fired up in the first period. The Bulldogs scored four straight goals in the period.
-Davenport went scoreless in this game up until the minute number 57. With 56 minutes and 52 seconds played Walked Aurand scored the first goal of the game for Davenport. Aurand scored on an unassisted effort, but the scoring was too little too late for DU.
-Aurand had the loan goal for DU.
-There was no assists by Davenport during the game.
-Nate Ferris played 16:46 and had 2 saves while Jason Rhynold played 43:14 and had 35 saves.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers start a four game road stretch on Friday, October 27th. Davenport will play at Eastern Michigan University with a puck drop time of 7:00 p.m.
