DETROIT, Mich. – Davenport found themselves down two sets early against the Warriors of Wayne State. However, the Panthers clawed their way back and tied the game up at two sets each. The fifth and final set was all Davenport, as they won 15-5 and hit .533 as a team.
Krissy Dill and
Laura Bouwkamp led the charge in scoring for Davenport, accounting for 35.5 of the teams 70 points. Davenport secured a spot in the GLIAC Tournament with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 21-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-5
-Wayne State got a couple multiple point runs to open the first set to give them a 17-9 lead. Davenport fought back late, cutting the lead to four after a small run. The lead was cut again after a three-point run by the Panthers, with Davenport only down 20-21. The Warriors won four of the final five points to take the set.
-The second set was very similar to the first. Wayne State held a 22-13 lead after an attack error by DU, which lead to a Davenport timeout. Following the timeout, the Panthers went on a seven point run to cut the lead down to 20-22. Wayne State finished the set and took a two set lead.
-Davenport got a big run during the middle of the set and this time it resulted in a lead for the Panthers. After scoring six straight points DU led 13-10. The set was close down the stretch, with the teams being tied at 21, 22 and 23 points. After being tied 23-23
Jessica Marvin got a kill to give DU a chance at set point. The Warriors had an attacking error and Davenport survived to force a fourth set.
-The Panthers carried their momentum into the fourth set and took an early lead. Following a service ace by Marvin DU held a 9-4 lead. Davenport took a timeout after a small Wayne State run to gather themselves. The timeout worked to perfection as Davenport increased their lead to seven points (16-9). Davenport scored six unanswered points down the stretch to take the fourth set and force a tiebreaking fifth set.
-Wayne State didn't stand a chance in the final set with Davenport hitting a blistering .533 as a team. Davenport recorded eight kills on only 15 total attacks.
