CHICAGO, Ill. – Davenport was on the road for a mini-series against the University of Illinois and split 1-1. The Panthers lost the first game on Friday, but came back and stole game two at the Fighting Illini home ice 5-2. After two full months of competition Davenport sits at 7-8 overall and do not compete again until December 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport found themselves down early in the first period. The Fighting Illini scored three unanswered goals before Davenport scored with just over five minutes to go in the period.
Alyx Fonseca scored the goal for DU to cut the lead down to two goals.
-The Panthers started the second period off on a good note, scoring a goal to cut the lead down to one goal.
Cory Bussing scored the goal just 45 seconds into the period, assisted by
Ian Thompson and
Adam Goudelock. The Fighting Illini scored five straight goals to end the period and Davenport was down six goals heading into the final period.
-Both teams scored a goal in the final period and the University of Illinois held onto their lead for the win.
-Three different players scored for DU,
Chris Corgan, Fonseca, and Bussing.
-
Everett Thompson had two assists on the night.
-Both
Tanner Swift and
Jason Rhynold spent time in the net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport came out on top during a high scoring first period. The panthers got on the board first with a goal by E. Thompson. The two teams traded goals for the most part of the period. After
Sherman Mowery scored DU's second goal of the period the Fighting Illini came back and tied the game 2-2. I. Thompson got the last goal of the period and DU held a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes of play.
-The Panthers shut out the Fighting Illini during the second and third period. Davenport scored twice in the third period to pull away from Illinois and complete the upset. Mowery scored about four minutes into the third period and
Sam Basich added a security goal with just a few minutes left in the game.
-Mowery scored twice in this game.

Joey Ogden assisted on two separate goals.
-Rhynold played all 60 minutes in net and earned the win.

Davenport is done playing for the month of November and pick back up early December. The Panthers host Eastern Michigan University on Saturday, December 2 at 3:30 p.m.
