GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport is entering the final game of the season and hoping to pick up a win in conference against Wayne State University. The Panthers and Warriors are both looking to build momentum heading into the 2018 season with a victory. Davenport was shut out for the fourth time this season a week ago against #12 Ferris State in a rainstorm at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. After a scoreless first quarter, the Bulldogs scored 13 points in the second quarter and added 13 more in the second half. Starting quarterback Reggie Bell was injured very early as Travis Russell replaced him and threw for 103 yards and a score, while rushing for 121 more yards and another score on the ground. William James was the third quarterback of the day for DU and threw for 65 yards on four completions. William Gist led the team with 40 rushing yards on 15 carries. C.J. Thornton and Kye Black each led the team with 11 tackles. Wayne State won a 26-24 contest at home against Northern Michigan a week ago. The Warriors trailed 24-23 heading into the fourth quarter when Paul Graham kicked the game-winning field goal with 9:04 left from 24 yards. Dakota Kupp threw for 234 yards on 14-of-24 passing.
