GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers wrapped up their non-conference schedule of games with a record of 6-2 after defeating Great Lakes Christian College, 110-80, on Tuesday night. The Panthers have now scored 100 or more points in all three meetings. Davenport shared the ball extremely well and shot a super efficient 62% from the field. Six different players scored in double digits during the game, including a team-high 17 points by
John McCloud Jr. and
Delano Smith. The Panthers only have GLIAC games remaining for their 2017-18 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport exploded offensively to open the game, making nine straight field goals. After five minutes and 36 seconds of play, the Panthers led Great Lakes Christian 21-8 following a three-point make by
Nick Malonga. The Panthers built up their biggest lead of the half with 8:57 remaining as
Braima Hai hit a three-pointer and DU led 32-17. The Crusaders fought back during the last part of the half. They cut the Panthers lead down to six points with just 2:23 remaining. Davenport brought their lead back up to 11 points before they went into the locker room for halftime.
The Panthers opened the second half on a 14-point run to build a 24-point lead with 15:42 left in the game. The lead reached 29 after McCloud Jr. tipped in a missed DU layup with 13:22 left on the clock. Davenport hit a 30-point lead after
Wes Webbert knocked down a deep shot, assisted by
Janeau Joubert. The Panthers led by 24 or more points for the remainder of the game and their largest lead of the game was 35 points.
Davenport assisted on 24 of their 44 made field goals on the night. Six different players scored in double digits for DU. McCloud Jr. and Smith each had 17 points,
Zack Nieuwkoop chipped in 14 points, Malonga and
Orlando Little had 13 points, and Joubert finished with 10 points.
Avery Hudson had a solid night at point guard, he finished with nine points while shooting 3/5 from deep and dished out a game-high eight assists.
UP NEXT
Davenport has an important game on Saturday against Wayne State University. The two teams are tied for first place in the GLIAC South Division with their conference records sitting at 3-1 so far. The game will be a doubleheader with the women's team, women will start at 1:00 p.m. and the men with an estimated start time of 3:00 p.m.
