Panthers Pull Out Win At Siena Heights 62-59

Bramhill and Gamble prove to be clutch down the stretch

ADRIAN, Mich. – Davenport pulls out an important 62-59 win at Siena Heights. Nick Gamble and Robbie Bramhill proved to be clutch down the stretch to help DU take the win. The Panthers had a rough night shooting in the second half but found a way to get the job done.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Siena Heights came out aggressive and energetic as they built up an eight point lead after six minutes of play. Davenport quickly clawed back as they went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to one point. The Panthers were down for almost 15 minutes during the first half. With 4:13 left in the half Bramhill drained a three to give DU a two-point lead. Over the next four minutes the Panthers went on a 12-4 run to take a 10-point lead into the half. Khadim Dieng led the team in scoring with eight points on an efficient 4/5 from the field.
 
The Panthers maintained their 10-point lead for the opening part of the second half. With 12:44 remaining in the game DU led 48-39, the Saints went on a seven point run to create a one possession game. When the clock hit 8:51 the Saints took their first lead of the half after a lay-up by Tony Jackson. Siena Heights built their lead all the way up to six points with only 4:31 to play. Kevin Rich converted on two lay-ups over the next minute and 36 seconds to cut the lead to two points. Bramhill knocked in the only three pointer of the half for the Panthers with 1:50 left in the game to give the team a one-point lead. With Davenport leading by one-point Gamble went to the line to shoot two free throws, he was unfazed by the pressure and hit both the free throws. The Saints had a chance at the buzzer to tie the game, but were un-able to get a shot off before time ran out.
 
Four Panthers scored in double digits during the game, Bramhill (10), Dieng (10), Gamble (11) and Rich (14). Rich also led the team in rebounds with eight, while Gamble led the team with five assists.

UP NEXT
The Panthers travel to Indiana on Saturday to take on Indiana Tech for their last regular season game. The winner will take the two seed in the conference tournament.
