COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Davenport dropped the opening round game of the GLCHL playoffs to the seventh seed Kent State. Kent State scored two goals in the opening period and was able to hold the lead throughout the rest of the game. The Panthers are now 26-7-1 and will play next in the ACHA National Tournament, which is from March 9-14.

HOW IT HAPPENED-Kent State scored two goals during the first period to jump on top of the Panthers early. Davenport did not have an offensive answer during the period and were down 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
-Both teams were impeccable on the defensive side of the ice during the second period as zero shots found the net. Kent State headed into the final period with a 2-0 lead.
-Kent State netted a goal to open up the third period and take a 3-0 lead, the Panthers responded shortly after. Davenport scored two un-answered goals to cut the lead down to one goal.
Joey Ogden and
Alyx Fonseca each scored for DU. Davenport was un-able to score another goal and Kent State scored two goals in the last minute of play to win 5-2.

UP NEXTDavenport will play in the ACHA D1 Men's Hockey National Tournament that takes place from March 9-14. The Panthers received the seventh seed and get a first round bye. Davenport will take on tenth seeded Arizona State on Saturday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m. All games are in Columbus, Ohio.
