CLERMONT, Fla. – Davenport rolled over Lake Erie and Gannon University on their way to remain undefeated for the 2017 season. The Panthers beat Lake Erie early in the morning by a score of 6-1 and rounded the bases eight times against Gannon to take the 8-0 win. The bats were on fire as the team combined for 14 runs during the two games. Hand in hand the pitching was just as impressive as
Emily Maves and
Mallory Teunissen combined for nine strike outs and only three walks.

Davenport scored six runs on their nine hits, while Lake Erie only scored one run on four hits

The Panthers were consistent with their offense throughout the entire game, scoring in four of the six innings they were up to bat. The bottom of the sixth inning saw Davenport score three runs on only two hits. Obetts got everything started with a triple to right field, Rowe was walked, she stole second, French grounded out and scored Obetts. Brambila finished off the scoring with a double that score Rowe and
Lindsay Tasma. Maves closed the game in the top of the seventh inning getting all three batters to either ground out or line out.

Davenport's bats were alive and well during the second game of the doubleheader against Gannon University. The Panthers score three runs in the opening inning and follow that up with four more in the second inning. French was outstanding in this game, going a perfect 3-3, scoring three runs and hitting a double. Teunissen won her team high fourth game and didn't give up one run during the five inning game. She now holds a 1.5 ERA for the season and has 19 strike outs compared to only three batters walked.
UP NEXT
Davenport will be in Lakeland, Florida tomorrow to take on Southeastern University in a double header between two teams that are ranked in the top 15 nationally.
