LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Panthers stumbled against Liberty during mini-series in Virginia. Liberty defeated Davenport 5-3 in the first game and shut out the Panthers 5-0 during the second game. Davenport out shot Liberty 34-26 during the first game, however the scoring was too little too late. Both games were filled with penalties as emotions were running high during each game.

HOW IT HAPPENED-Liberty got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 13
th minute of the opening period. Both teams had one power play opportunity during the period and were un-able to score with the advantage.
-The offense was on display for both teams during the second period; Davenport scored two goals while Liberty scored four goals.
Alex Hulford and
Luke Cowan scored for the Panthers. There was a combined nine penalties during the period, six on DU and three on Liberty.
-Cowan scored one more goal for the Panthers during the third period but couldn't connect on any other shots as Liberty held onto the lead for a 5-3 win. There was 23 combined penalties during the last period.
-Cowan scored two goals to lead DU.

Kody Polin had two assists.

Tanner Swift and
Jason Rhynold played in the net during the game, Swift had 11 saves while Rhynold had ten saves.
-There was a combined 88 penalty minutes between the two teams.

Davenport was shut out during all three periods while Liberty was able to score at least one goal every period.-The Panthers had a couple power play opportunities during the game but couldn't convert. Davenport tallied 27 shots on goal compared to the 39 by Liberty.-Rhynold played the whole game in net and had 34 saves on the night. UP NEXTThe Panthers have two more regular season games remaining against Eastern Michigan before the playoffs start. Both these games won't be played until next week.
