GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers are off to a perfect start in WHAC play after sweeping Aquinas College 4-0 and 4-1 yesterday. Davenport's pitching and defense was yet again impeccable as they only let up one run during the doubleheader. The Saints are receiving votes in the national poll and only suffered two loses heading into the games against DU. Davenport from top to bottom proved why they are ranked number seven in the country and are now 24-2 overall.

Both teams started off the game with great defense. Combined over the opening three innings the teams only had four hits and no runs were scored. In the top of the fourth Flores hit a double to center field with no outs. Selena Pauley pinch ran for Flores and Eastman doubled down the left field line to score Pauley and get the Panthers on the board first. Davenport scored against in the top of the sixth with a double by Tasma that saw Brambila round third and make it home. The Panthers created a bigger gap between them and the Saints with a two run seventh inning to create a 4-0 lead. Brambila hit a single down the left field line that scored both French and
Kennedy Crawford.

Davenport stretched out their offense over four innings in the second game. The Panthers scored one run in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth inning. Teunissen only gave up one run during the fourth inning and won her 12
th game of the season. Eastman doubled to start off the second inning and Tasma drove a single up the middle that scored Eastman. Flores did not need anyone to drive her in as she sent a home run straight over the center field wall to give DU a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. In the fifth Obetts tripled down the right field line and French singled to score the runner. Flores hit a triple of her own in the sixth and again Tasma came in with an RBI single to score Flores.
UP NEXT
Davenport has a very quick turnaround as they play their fifth and sixth game of the weekend against Concordia University. The games are being played in Ann Arbor, Mich. and have start times of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
