GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Nothing is sweeter than sweeping a team in a doubleheader, except doing so on a senior day! The Panthers did exactly that as they swept Lourdes University in a doubleheader at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex today. Davenport took an 8-3 win in game one and a 10-2 win in game two. Davenport was initially down to the Gray Wolves in this game. Lourdes scored two runs in the top of the third inning to score the first runs of the game. The Panthers didn't let the lead stand for long, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to take a 6-2 lead. Hutchison hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning that shook the opposing pitcher. Davenport tallied two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 8-3 lead into the last three outs of the game.

Davenport consistently had runners rounding the bases during the six innings of play. They scored in all but one of the innings during the second game. Davenport took control of the game in the third inning when Flores hit a huge double to right center field and scored Tasma, French and Crawford. The Panthers had another big offensive showing during the bottom of the fifth when Vitale pinch hit and singled up the middle to score Obetts and
Briana Allen.
Up Next
Davenport will play in their last conference doubleheader on Friday when they host UM-Dearborn. Games are scheduled to start at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
