CLERMONT, Fla. – Davenport fell to LSU-Alexandria 2-0 and were eliminated from the 2017 NAIA Softball World Series today. The Panthers had similar offensive struggles in this game compared to the first game they played against the Generals in Game 3 of the World Series. Davenport was only able to record two hits this game and were un-able to score a run. The Panthers have a lot to celebrate this season, including the accomplishment of tying the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference record for most wins in a single World Series.

The Panthers had their best scoring opportunity in the top of the first inning. French was up to bat first and walked, then stole second. Tasma was up second and also got walked. Davenport had runners on first and second with no outs. The next three batters couldn't advance the runners and the Generals got themselves out of the jam with no harm. Maves had a solid game on the mound and only gave up two runs in the third inning. She struck out eight batters, walked two batters and gave up only two earned runs.
Season in Review
Davenport was co-champions in the regular season for the WHAC, WHAC Tournament champions, NAIA Opening Round champions and won two games in the World Series. This was the first time that a WHAC team has made the final site in the World Series since the NAIA has adopted the opening round format. The team finished with a record of 49-10 and a conference record of 16-4.
