GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the first time this season, the Davenport Panther football team will be playing a familiar opponent in Tiffin University. The Dragons are the only team that Davenport will have a rematch with this year with their move to NCAA Division II and the GLIAC. Davenport and Tiffin got together last season on September 10 in Tiffin, Ohio with the Dragons winning 20-17. Both teams scored 14 points in the first quarter before field goals were made in the final three quarters. Hunter Krause passed for 166 yards and two touchdowns while the Panther rushing attack had 147 yards. Antonio Pipkin completed 18-of-31 passes for 245 yards and two TD's for Tiffin. Kyle Brunson rushed for 99 yards on just 11 carries as the Dragons rushed for 198 yards. Brent Showers totaled 13 tackles in the contest. Nick Trolian added 12 tackles and a sack for Davenport. The teams were tied 17-17 late in the third quarter when Jared Friszman kicked the go-ahead field goal from 26 yards. DU had the ball inside Tiffin territory once in the fourth quarter and their final two drives ended in an interception.

This will be a "BLACK OUT" game so fans are encouraged to wear black in support of the Panthers. Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Tiffin enters the game with a 1-1 record and will be playing their first GLIAC game of the season. Davenport is looking for their first win of 2017.
