GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport breezed past the Pride of Purdue Northwest tonight 3-0 and won their second GLIAC match of the season. The team is now 2-1 in conference play and are holding their own as newcomers to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference. The Panthers had a total team effort tonight, four players had seven or more kills. Both

Ashley VanderHorst hit over.400 on 18 or more attacks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 25-23, 25-19, 25-17
-The first set was a tight battle and 10 times during the set it was tied. Davenport won the longevity part of the set, out-playing the Pride towards the end. With the set tied 20-20 Davenport scored five out of the next eight points.
Laura Bouwkamp got the game winning kill and was assisted by
Sydney Tracer.
-A five point run by DU at the beginning of the second set created momentum that never died down. After Davenport led 8-4 the Pride made a comeback and tied the set up 12-12. Another four point run pushed Davenport to victory. Davenport won the set 25-19 and took a 2-0 lead.
-The third set was all Davenport, who took an early 11-4 lead after a
Jessica Marvin kill. Another five point run eliminated the chance of a Pride comeback and Marvin recorded the match winning kill.
UP NEXT
The next match for Davenport will on Friday against GLIAC opponent Grand Valley State. It will take place in the DU Student Center and the first serve will be at 7:00 p.m.
