ASHLAND, Ohio. – The Panthers first road stop this weekend was down in Ohio to take on Ashland University. The Eagles defended their home court, sweeping the Panthers 3-0. Davenport hit only .089 for the game and tallied 20 errors for the match. Davenport is now 3-3 in conference play and tied for third place in the GLIAC South standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 18-25, 21-25, 19-25
-Davenport started the first set neck and neck with the Eagles. After a kill by
Charlie Smith DU took a 7-6 lead. Ashland won five of the next seven points to take an 11-9 lead. The Panthers were un-able to string points together down the stretch of the first set, only recording three multi-point streaks during the set. Ashland closed the set winning five of the last seven points.
-The Panthers charged out to a big time lead in the second set, leading 9-4 after a bad set by the Eagles. Davenport continued the high level of play, after a
Jessica Marvin kill DU took a 13-8 lead. The Eagles rallied off six straight points to take a 14-13 lead. Following a Ashland error the set was tied 18-18, the Eagles then won six out of the next seven points to earn an opportunity at set point. Ashland won the set after a service error by Davenport.
-During the third set two big runs by the Eagles prevented DU from pushing the game into a fourth set. Davenport led 9-7, after a
Sydney Tracer ace, then the Eagles scored five straight points to take a three-point lead. Later in the set Davenport held an 18-17 lead before Ashland rallied off seven straight points. Ashland finished the game off in two more points to finish the sweep.

UP NEXT
Davenport remains on the road for their second game in less than 24 hours. The Panthers stay in Ohio to compete against GLIAC opponent Tiffin University at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
