GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport celebrated the careers of six seniors prior to the start of the match against Ashland. The Panthers will part ways with
Ashley VanderHorst,
Jessica Marvin,
Sydney Tracer,
Jenn Kay Vander Meer,
Sarah Wendling, and
Kasey Stehouwer after this season. After announcing each senior, the match started between the Eagles and the Panthers, which Ashland won in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET SCORES: 20-25, 18-25, 24-26
The Panthers had lots to celebrate prior to the start of the match, but little to boast about once the match started. The Eagles swept the Panthers 3-0 and forced Davenport into hitting .088 on 125 total attacks.
The closest set was the final one, where the Panthers battled back from an early deficit to force extra points to determine a winner. The Eagles went up 11-6 after a kill, putting pressure on Davenport to make a run and quick. The Panthers did just that, scoring eight of the next nine points to take a 14-12 lead over Ashland. Davenport again found themselves down late and got a couple key points to force extra points. The Eagles lead 23-21 and back to back kills by
Charlie Smith tied the set 23-23. The Panthers won the next point and had a chance to win the set coming out of the timeout by Ashland. Following the timeout the Eagles won three straight points to win the match.

The Panthers have three more regular season matches remaining, all of which will be on the road. Davenport travels to Grand Valley State next Saturday and then Purdue Northwest and Parkside the following weekend.
