ALLENDALE, Mich. – Davenport competed in their final regular-season game of the 2018 campaign and faced arguably the toughest team in the country. The Panthers traveled to Allendale to take on Grand Valley State, who came into the game as the number one ranked team in NCAA Division II and undefeated. Davenport fought throughout the whole game, but the Lakers were overwhelming.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers scored five goals throughout the game, including two in the first half. Davenport was unable to record a shot during the first half, but came back in the second half and had a couple offensive opportunities. The Panthers recorded two shots in the second half, one from
Alice Linsell and another from
Katherine Steiner, neither were on target. Freshman keeper
Macie DeWyse and the Davenport defense had their hands full during the 90-minute contest. DeWyse faced 13 shots and saved eight of them, bringing her season total to 86 saves.
UP NEXT
Now that the regular season has concluded the Panthers look ahead to the GLIAC Tournament. Davenport finished seventh in the conference and drew Ferris State for the quarterfinals. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 at 3 p.m. in Big Rapids, Mich.
