HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 25-13, 25-14, 28-26
-Davenport wasted no time in set one and two proving they are the better team. The Panthers built up a 11-3 lead in set one following a hot start from Megan Herr, Hayley Kreiger, and Jessica Marvin. All three of them had two kills during the opening 14 points of play and Ashley VanderHorst added a service ace. Davenport was strong down the last stretch of the set, scoring six of the final seven points to take a 25-13 set win. A solo block by Marvin proved to be the set-winner.
-The second set was close to open up and then the Panthers went an absolute tear to run away with the set. With the score tied 5-4, in DU's favor, the Panthers scored 11 straight points to take a 16-4 lead. During the stretch VanderHorst had a kill and a service ace. The Lakers gathered themselves and over the last 18 points of the set, the two teams went an even 9-9. However, the damage was already done early for the Panthers and they went ahead 2-0 in sets.
