MIDLAND, Mich. – Davenport and Northwood played an exciting game in front of a good sized crowd in the Riepma Arena. The Panthers held the lead late in the second half and during the overtime period, but were unable to sustain and hold those leads. Northwood hit a three with three seconds to go in the second half to send the game into overtime, and then were granted three free throws after a foul on a last second heave in overtime. Davenport didn't get a chance to rebuttal during the overtime period with such little time remaining on the clock after the free throws.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening 10 minutes of basketball belonged to the Panthers. The team did what they needed to during a road game, come out aggressive and create a lead. Davenport jumped out to a 6-5 lead following a jumper by
Janeau Joubert just under two minutes into the game. The Panthers held this lead until there was 7:31 left in the first half. Northwood strung together a few buckets multiple times down the stretch in the first half to take a four-point lead heading into halftime.
The Panthers came out of the locker room red hot to open the second half. Joubert scored five points and
Braima Hai chipped in a layup to give DU a 7-0 run and the lead just 85 seconds into the game. The Timberwolves scored six straight points towards the middle of the half to take an eight-point lead.
Robbie Bramhill capped off a nine point run by DU over a three-minute period with a corner jumpshot to give the Panthers a 52-51 lead. The game of runs continued as Northwood went on a 9-1 run and their lead went back up to seven. Davenport went on an 11-point tear from 3:18-00:24 on the clock to put themselves in prime position to win the game. The Panthers led 64-60 with 24 seconds remaining in regulation. Northwood scored a layup and a three to send the game into overtime during those 24 seconds of play.
Similar to the first two halves of basketball Davenport jumped out to an early lead. Bramhill hit a corner three ball with 2:42 left in the overtime period to give DU a 72-66 lead. The Panthers went cold from the field for the remainder of the period, scoring zero points. Northwood was awarded three free throws with only 1.5 seconds on the clock after getting fouled on a last second heave. The Timberwolves hit all three free throws to take a two-point lead and eventually win the game.
Joubert had a great game offensively for the Panthers, scoring a team high 20 points on 8/13 shooting from the field. He also added three rebounds and four assists. Hai chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Davenport shot just 11/19 from the charity stripe during the game and had 16 turnovers.
